J. Donald Dishman, D.C., M.Sc., D.I.B.C.N., D.I.B.E.
Dr. Dishman has taught electrodiagnostics for over ten years
to Doctors throughout the US. In addition to the Doctor of
Chiropractic degree, he was awarded a Master of Science
degree in Neurophysiology from the renown Institute of
Sensory Research of Syracuse University. Dr. Dishman is a
Diplomate of the International Board of Chiropractic
Neurology, and founding Chairman of the Academy’s
subspecialty board examination committee for
electrodiagnostics.

He currently is Professor of Anatomy and Director of Research at Palmer College of
Chiropractic Florida. Dr. Dishman was also a Professor at New York Chiropractic
College for over 13 years, where he taught courses in clinical neuroscience, anatomy
and the profession’s first electrodiagnostics course for chiropractic students. He is also
an Associate Professor of Bioengineering and Neuroscience at Syracuse University. Dr.
Dishman has published extensively in many prestigious international journals such as
Spine, Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, and Electromyography
and Clinical Neurophysiology. He was awarded the prestigious “Scott Haldeman Award”
for best original research paper at the Sixth Biennial Congress of the World Federation
of Chiropractic in Paris, France. He is a past and current research grant recipient from
the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research, as well as the Center for
Complimentary and Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health. He practices
electrodiagnostics on referral from physicians in Central Florida and Western New York.
In addition, he maintains a research laboratory at Palmer Florida in which investigations
evaluating the neurophysiological effects of spinal manipulation are performed.
Research techniques utilized include H-reflexes, F-responses and transcranial and
peripheral magnetic stimulation.
Dr. Dishman’s electrodiagnostic consultation experience spans nearly two decades with
thousands of nerve conduction studies and needle EMG examinations having been
performed. His training includes courses in clinical neurophysiology through the Harvard
Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Currently, he performs studies as
well as clinical interpretations for many DCs who perform electrodiagnostics in their
practices.
